Which is harder? Tap dance or clogging? Both types require similar foot movements, but they are different in sound, style, and their steps have different names. Tap dance and clogging are very similar. Even though they have the same foot movements, the steps have different names. For example ,a "shuffle" in tap dance is a "double-down" in clogging.
Tap dance originated from clogging in the late 1800's. It's an American dance with Irish and Jazz fusion. Unlike clogging ,tap usually begins on the "up-beat" of the music instead of the "down-beat".
Clogging came from the Appalachin Mountains in 1700's and is also considered an American dance. Although the shoes have taps on them, like tap shoes, the clogging taps move back and forth like a mini see-saw. Tap shoe's taps don't move.
Because tap dance and clogging are very similar in their movements, their rhythms and styles, it make it difficult to decide which is harder. I guess it depends on the dancer.
