Why Middleton Library should join the Lynx consortiumBy Jocelyn T.
The Middleton library should join the lynx library consortium. There would be many advantages for the citizens of Middleton. There are reasons Middleton is not currently a member but these problems can be easily overcome.
Middleton would join if they met the requirements to join the consortium. They would need a bigger building and more patrons. They would also have to get more books. The library would need a technology upgrade so it would match the consortium’s technology. Some people would argue against joining the consortium for the reason it would cost tax payers money, but it would be a good use of their tax dollars.
Creating a library district would help Middleton overcome all of these problems. A library district would give the library more patrons. The tax base for the library would be larger; providing more money for building and technology upgrades.
If Middleton joined the library consortium there would be many benefits. There would be more books and resources for information. There would be more librarians to help find books, check books in, and check books out. There would be one card for many libraries, also increasing the resources available to patrons. Instead of having to return your books at a certain library you could return it to any of the libraries within the consortium. If Middleton joined the consortium there would be electronic catalogue access. All of the benefits that would happen if Middleton library joined the consortium would be worth the effort to meet the consortium’s requirements.
Middleton library should join the lynx library consortium. Although reaching the requirements to join the consortium would cost tax payers money, it would be worth the cost. Middleton would have electronic catalogue access to the library. There would be more books. Citizens would only need one library card for multiple libraries with many resources. Middleton joining the library consortium would be beneficial.
